Two different definitions of 'the product'
Mobile Pro Systems documents the Commander 3400 as a deployment platform: a 33 ft three-section telescoping mast with 10 tool-free mounting locations, an 800 W solar array feeding a 12,500 Wh lithium battery, an optional gasoline or diesel generator with 20-gallon capacity, and full published trailer dimensions and a 3,000 lb gross weight rating. What you mount on it, and what software watches it, is stated as open — any camera, sensor or VMS.
Sharpvue documents the MAST as a complete system: the trailer plus specified cameras, connectivity with automatic carrier failover, continuous cloud recording, AI analytics, audio and visual deterrence, and remote diagnostics. It is also open at the video layer, but it arrives configured and supported as one thing.
Interpretation: if you are a security integrator with strong camera and VMS opinions and the capacity to specify, install and support your own stack, a documented platform with a very tall mast is arguably the better raw material. If you want a unit that arrives working, with one party accountable when something stops, an integrated system is the shorter path. Neither answer is more sophisticated than the other — they suit different organizations.
Mast height: the specification most buyers under-weight
The Commander 3400's 33 ft mast against Sharpvue's 22 ft is the largest single specification gap in this comparison, and it is worth understanding what it buys rather than treating it as a bigger-is-better number.
Raising a camera does two things. It increases the ground area within line of sight, which matters on large open sites. More importantly it improves the depression angle, so subjects are separated in frame instead of overlapping, vehicles do not occlude each other, and analytics have cleaner geometry to work with. On a large laydown yard, a solar farm perimeter or a multi-hundred-space lot, height can do more for usable coverage than a higher-resolution sensor at a lower elevation.
The trade-offs are real though: more height means more wind loading, a heavier and more stable base, longer deployment, and more mast to maintain. Mobile Pro Systems addresses stability explicitly, publishing a rotatable mast and a 3,000 lb gross weight rating. Before paying for height, model camera coverage at each option against your actual site plan — many retail and construction deployments genuinely do not need 33 ft, and 22 ft on a lighter, faster-deploying trailer is the better operational answer.
Power architecture: stored energy versus harvest
These two take noticeably different power approaches, and the headline capacity figures hide it.
Mobile Pro Systems: 800 W of solar into 12,500 Wh of battery — a lot of stored energy behind a comparatively modest array. Sharpvue: 1,170 W of solar into 200 Ah at 48V, roughly 9.6 kWh nominal — less storage, considerably more daily harvest.
The ratio matters more than either number alone. A big battery with a small array holds a long reserve but refills slowly, which is why the Commander 3400's optional generator is a sensible part of that design rather than an afterthought. A larger array relative to storage refills faster and can stay ahead of daily load without intervention — Sharpvue publishes a 6–8 hour recharge to full and 8–10 days of runtime on a charge, with a 100 A Anderson generator input available when a site needs it.
Mobile Pro Systems does not publish runtime or recharge time, so the two cannot be compared numerically on the figures that ultimately decide uptime. Connectivity, recording and AI
This is where the disclosure runs the other way. Sharpvue publishes multi-carrier 5G/LTE with automatic carrier-to-carrier failover, optional Starlink, continuous 24/7 recording to the iVISION cloud with unlimited users and concurrent streams, and AI-powered alerts, search and analytics in the VMS.
For Mobile Pro Systems, connectivity, recording location, cloud capability, AI analytics, LPR, thermal, audio deterrence and strobes were all not found in the public materials we reviewed. That does not mean they are unavailable — it means they are not published, most likely because they depend on the cameras and software you choose to integrate. Budget and specify them explicitly, and confirm what the trailer includes versus what you are sourcing.
Fleet operations and remote diagnostics
Sharpvue provides ODIN, an AI agent on the trailer that reads power, connectivity, VMS, gateway and camera state and reports faults through the dealer portal, where a dealer can also run remote remediation — clearing a stuck gateway, power-cycling a VMS — without a site visit. On a distributed fleet the value is straightforward avoided truck rolls.
No customer-facing fleet diagnostics tool was found in Mobile Pro Systems' public materials. For an integrator running their own NOC that may be irrelevant — they already have monitoring for the cameras and VMS they installed. For an end user with units in several states and no in-house NOC, it is a significant operational difference and worth asking about directly.
Compliance and country of origin
Sharpvue publishes US manufacture in Chapin, South Carolina, NDAA Section 889 compliance, and component-level documentation on request. Mobile Pro Systems' manufacturing location and NDAA position were not found in the materials we reviewed — which means unverified, not non-compliant, and it is a straightforward question to put to them.
Worth noting that several of Mobile Pro Systems' named integration partners, including Axis and Genetec, are commonly used in federal and critical-infrastructure work, so a compliant build is likely achievable. If your procurement requires documentation, ask for it at component level from any vendor rather than accepting a general statement.
