Keep the trailer.
Replace the brains.
You already own the chassis, the mast, the solar, and the batteries. If the part that's letting you down is the top box, that's the part we swap — a Sharpvue enclosure and camera head, minor rewiring into the power that's already there, and you're running on iVISION, Alarm.com, or OpenEye.
Not worth converting? Trade it in and we'll credit it against a new MAST trailer and service.

One box off. One box on.
A surveillance trailer is four things: a chassis, a mast, a power system, and a top box. Only one of those goes obsolete. Replacing it costs a fraction of replacing the trailer.
What you end up with is a factory MAST in everything but the chassis: the same head unit, the same cameras, the same software, on the trailer you already own.

- 01
We look at what you have
Send photos and the make, model, and year. We check the chassis, mast, battery bank, and solar array against what the Sharpvue top box needs, and tell you straight whether converting is worth it or whether trading in is the better deal.
- 02
The top box comes off
The old enclosure and mast head come off the chassis. Everything that made the trailer a trailer — frame, axle, jacks, mast, lighting, solar array — stays exactly where it is. You already paid for it once.
- 03
Sharpvue goes on
A Sharpvue enclosure and camera head go on in its place: NDAA-compliant cameras, edge AI detection, multi-carrier 5G/LTE, and the option of Starlink. Then minor rewiring ties it into the power and solar already on the trailer.
- 04
You pick the platform
The converted unit commissions onto Sharpvue iVISION, Alarm.com for Business, or OpenEye — your choice, not ours. The cameras publish standard RTSP and support ONVIF, so it can also feed a VMS you already run.
We'll tell you if it's not worth it.
Not every trailer is worth converting, and we would rather say so up front than take the job and hand you a bill. When a chassis isn't worth the work, the trade-in program is the better answer — and we'll point you there ourselves.
Good candidate
- A structurally sound chassis with good axles, jacks, and DOT lighting
- A working mast — telescoping or fixed — with the winch or actuator intact
- A battery bank and solar array with real capacity left in them
- Any manufacturer, any monitoring platform — the make doesn't matter to us
- Single units or a whole rental fleet converted in batches
Trade it in instead
- Frame, axle, or mast damage that costs more to repair than the conversion
- A battery bank at the end of its life — new batteries can be quoted alongside
- A trailer so old the chassis paperwork or DOT compliance won't clear
Tired of somebody else's trailer? We got you covered.
Bring us a trailer from any other manufacturer and we'll appraise it and credit it against a new Sharpvue trailer and service. You stop pouring money into a unit that keeps costing you, and you stop waiting on somebody else's support queue.
Every trade-in is appraised on its own — make, age, condition, and how many you're bringing. We put the credit in writing next to the price of a new unit, so the comparison is yours to make.
- Credit, not a write-off
- The unit you're fighting with becomes money against the one you actually want.
- Applies to service too
- Credit goes against the trailer and the service behind it, not just the hardware line.
- We take it off your hands
- No listing it, no storing it, no explaining its history to a buyer. It leaves, the new one arrives.
You know the trailer. You know the problem.
You're locked to one platform
The hardware only talks to the vendor's own software, so the day you want to change monitoring providers you're buying new trailers. Sharpvue cameras publish standard RTSP and support ONVIF.
It keeps dropping offline
Single-carrier modems go dark wherever that carrier is weak. Sharpvue units run multi-carrier 5G/LTE with automatic carrier-to-carrier failover, and Starlink is an option where there's no cell at all.
Getting your own footage is a fight
Video that lives behind someone else's subscription isn't really yours. Sharpvue records continuously to the cloud, and owning the hardware doesn't require a monitoring contract.
Parts and service take weeks
MAST trailers are built in Chapin, South Carolina, and supported by the same team that builds them — including remote diagnostics and self-healing through ODIN.
We publish a side-by-side comparison of the trailer manufacturers — sourced, with every vendor's real strengths listed — so you can check this against the alternatives yourself. The buyer's guide covers what to look at before you spend anything.
Conversion & trade-in FAQ
- Can you really convert a trailer another company built?
- In most cases, yes. A surveillance trailer is a chassis, a mast, a power system, and a top box. The top box is the part that goes obsolete or gets locked to one platform — so that's the part we replace. The chassis, mast, solar array, and battery bank stay, along with the money you already spent on them.
- What does 'minor rewiring' actually mean?
- The Sharpvue enclosure has to be tied into the trailer's existing DC power and solar charge controller, and the camera head has to be run up the mast you already have. On a healthy trailer that's a straightforward job. If we find a power system that can't carry the load, we'll tell you before any work starts rather than after.
- Do I have to buy a new trailer to use iVISION?
- No. That's the entire point of BYOT. A converted trailer runs the same iVISION platform, the same edge AI detection, and the same continuous cloud recording as a factory MAST unit. You can also run it on Alarm.com for Business or OpenEye instead.
- What is my old trailer worth on trade-in?
- It depends on the make, age, and condition, so every trade-in is appraised individually rather than run off a price list. Send photos and the make, model, and year and we'll put a credit in writing, next to the price of a new MAST trailer, so you can compare the two honestly.
- Can you convert a whole rental fleet?
- Yes, and it's usually the better economics for a dealer. Converting in batches keeps units earning instead of sitting, and it upgrades a fleet's capability without the capital cost of replacing it. Talk to us about scheduling so you're never short of deployable units.
- How long does a conversion take?
- Turnaround depends on the unit and on scheduling. We give you a firm window in writing once we've seen the trailer, and we schedule around your deployments rather than pulling units off jobs.
Tell us what you're stuck with.
Make, model, year, and how many. We'll tell you whether it's a conversion or a trade-in, and what each one costs, before anybody schedules anything.
Photos help most — the whole trailer, the top box and mast head, and the battery and solar setup. Reply to the confirmation email with them and we can usually give you a number a day sooner.
