Two different things to buy
Most comparison pages in this category pit similar products against each other. This one does not, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. ECAM sells live video monitoring — AI detection reviewed by human operators who verify, intervene and dispatch — and its Mobile Surveillance Units exist to put cameras where the monitoring is needed. Sharpvue manufactures mobile surveillance trailers and the software ecosystem around them, and sells or rents them to organizations and dealers who then decide how they want them watched.
The practical consequence: with ECAM you are procuring a service relationship with defined outcomes, and the equipment specifications are largely ECAM's concern. With Sharpvue you are procuring equipment and a platform, and the monitoring arrangement is yours to define. Which is right depends far more on how your security function is organised than on any hardware specification.
The monitoring operation
Credit where the public record supports it: ECAM's monitoring operation is large and independently credentialed. It publishes 140,000+ cameras monitored across North America and 6,000+ customers, operates UL-Listed and TMA Five Diamond certified monitoring centres, claims 19 AI patents, and publishes outcome figures — 50,000+ crimes deterred and 30,000+ police dispatches annually. GardaWorld's guard force sits behind it, which enables a hybrid model where video escalates to a physical response from the same provider.
Sharpvue does not operate an in-house national monitoring centre. Remote video monitoring is available through the platform and dealer ecosystem. If a single accountable provider for detection, verification, dispatch and guard response is your requirement, that is a straightforward argument for ECAM and this page will not pretend otherwise.
Hardware disclosure and specifications
Here the asymmetry runs the other way. Sharpvue publishes complete spec tables: 1,170 W solar array, 200 Ah at 48V, 22 ft telescoping mast, 8–10 days of runtime on a full charge, 6–8 hour solar recharge, 14 W total camera draw, trailer dimensions and towing class. The MAST-mini is documented to the same level at a 16 ft mast.
ECAM describes its units as solar-powered towers for remote perimeters. Battery capacity, runtime, recharge characteristics, mast height and camera counts were not found in its public materials. For a service purchase that is defensible — the provider carries the performance risk. For a buyer who needs to know whether a unit will survive a week of Seattle overcast on a specific site, it means the answer has to come from a sales conversation rather than a datasheet.
Sensors: where ECAM publishes more
On sensor breadth, ECAM publishes two capabilities Sharpvue does not currently publish as trailer configurations: thermal imaging cameras for zero-light detection, and license plate recognition. Sharpvue's catalogue includes a bi-spectrum AI thermal camera, but the published MAST configuration is a low-power PTZ plus two panoramic 180° cameras, and this page does not claim trailer-mounted thermal or LPR that Sharpvue has not published.
If thermal perimeter detection or plate capture is a hard requirement, raise it explicitly with both vendors and ask for the specific camera model and its placement on the mast. Sharpvue can discuss the camera range against a particular site requirement.
Platform architecture and who holds the footage
Sharpvue records continuously to the iVISION cloud, with unlimited users and unlimited concurrent streams, and the same trailer can instead run on Alarm.com for Business or OpenEye — or feed a third-party VMS over standard RTSP with ONVIF support.
ECAM's public materials do not describe a customer-operated VMS architecture, cloud retention terms or recording location for the mobile units. In a service model the footage workflow typically lives inside the provider's program.
Interpretation: this becomes concrete at renewal. If you change providers, ask what happens to historical footage, whether evidence export is self-service, and whether the equipment can be repointed at a different platform. Organizations that expect to re-tender periodically, or that are subject to records-retention obligations, tend to weigh this more heavily than the monthly price difference.
Remote diagnostics and fleet operations
Sharpvue provides ODIN, an AI agent on the trailer that reads power, connectivity, VMS, gateway and camera state and reports faults through the dealer portal, where dealers can also run remote remediation such as clearing a stuck gateway or power-cycling a VMS. For an owner running units across several states, the value is avoided truck rolls.
ECAM's public materials reference unified platform health monitoring across its estate, but do not describe a customer-facing fleet diagnostics tool — which is consistent with a model where the provider, not the customer, maintains the equipment. If you are not maintaining the hardware, you do not need a diagnostics console.
Pricing and total cost of ownership
Neither company publishes pricing. ECAM does not publish purchase, rental or contract terms for its mobile surveillance units, and Sharpvue quotes per configuration. Public pricing was not identified for either during our latest review; buyers should request current pricing directly from each provider.
Because the two models differ so fundamentally, compare them over a realistic term rather than per month. A monitored service bundles hardware, platform, cellular, monitoring, service and replacement into one recurring line. An ownership model front-loads hardware and then carries platform, cellular and any monitoring separately, with residual value in equipment you still hold at the end. Over three to five years on a stable site those curves cross; on a nine-month project they usually do not.

Who should consider Sharpvue?
Sharpvue suits organizations that want to own the equipment and choose the software: integrators and dealers building recurring revenue, enterprises with an incumbent VMS, buyers with NDAA or domestic-manufacture requirements, and teams running large distributed fleets who want remote diagnostics rather than a service contract. Typical deployments include grocery and retail parking lots, shopping centres, construction and data center builds, logistics yards, municipalities and critical infrastructure.
